We have made a few changes in the software for 6002 and 7002 and it is now ready for download.
Even though we are making a full software revision history, it can be necessary with a more detailed explanation. You can read the full revision history here.
If we sum up the changes from version 1.18 to 1.31, the following important things have changed.
New features
- Al logging is now compressed. This will increase the capacity from 65 to 120 minutes and almost 9 hours in 7002. Together with this big change, data are now being logged when the finish line is passed and not 0.1 second later. Now the engine number, tire wear counter number and the number of temperature inputs too.
- In service mode it is now possible to read the current environment temperature. The menu is called "Envir" as a abbreviation for environment.
- In service mode it is now possible to read how many percent of the logging memory is used. The menu is called Flash %. If the memory is full, the Laptimer is no longer logging graphs and it is necessary to clear the memory.
- In service mode the Reset counter is renamed to Error and we have added a lot of new features. In the upper display you can see two numbers. The number to the left is how many times the display have turned off the Laptimer and the number to the right is how many times the main box have turned off the Laptimer. In the lower display you can see some codes telling what is going on in the Laptimer. These numbers can only be decoded by Unipro. All values can be cleared by pressing the FUNC button.
- A new menu is added in service mode called Code. This is a user selectable code that can be used together with the PC Analyser program. This code prevents your data to be read by other people.
The code can be a number between 1 and 9999 or it can be disabled. You can only see the code when entering a new one. If the code is disabled, the display will show "OFF" and if a code is present, the display will show "----". It is not possible to se the code in the Laptimer, so it is very important to remember the code! In the future, the PC Analyser will scramble the data and they cannot be read without knowing the code!
- It is now possible to set the auto turnoff time in service mode. The menu is called "OFF TIME" and the time is set in minutes:seconds. You can choose a timeout between 5 and 30 minutes.
- It is now possible to enable or disable the Delta Time when passing the finish line. The menu is called Delta Time in service mode and it can be ON or OFF. Some drivers want to read the temperature at the end of the strait and this can be interrupted with the Delta Time.
- Clear Laps is now asking for permission before the laps are cleared. You cannot clear the laps by accident anymore. It is however still very fast to clear the laps because you just need to press the same button twice.
- It is now possible to get a visual indication if the split time is better or worse than the best during the driving. If the time is better, the second green LED will turn on and if it is worse, the first red LED will turn on. The LEDs will be on until another split point is passed, the Laptimer changes to pit mode or service mode or the engine is turned off. This function can be disabled in service mode in the menu called SPL LIGHT.
- The long press on FUNC is decreased to 2 seconds. This is done because the Laptimer ask for permission anyway.
- Manuel change of splits now ask for permission before the laps are cleared. This has been a confusing point for many people, but now you will be warned before any harm is done. You can choose NO and then the previous split points are restored.
- During power-on the Laptimer model number is shown in the display. This will make it easy to identify the Laptimer model, even with a display unit with a logo engraved.
- It will in the future be possible to update the Laptimer software wireless from the Data Analyser. When PC SETUP is selected in service mode the Laptimer checks if the USB cable is inserted or not. If the cable is not detected it will change to IrDA mode and the program can be received from the Data Analyser. The transfer itself takes 15 seconds and after the program is checked, the update starts.
- The software in the Laptimer can be updated without the need to go in service mode first. Now it is possible for a future upgrade program to start the upgrade with the need to touch anything on the Laptimer.
- You can now choose to see the delta split times during the race. This is shown if you enable both SPL DISP and DELTA TIME in service mode.
- The Laptimer now checks for active accessories connected to AUX or RECV 2 during power-on. This form for accessories should always be connected when the Laptimer is turned off. It will not work if connected to a turned on Laptimer!
- The Laptimer can now be used together with the comming battery sensor. This sensor measures the kart's battery voltage with high precision and you can see the current voltage in the display if the sensor is connected. Both min and max voltage is stored per lap and split and the voltage is logged once per second. A new setup menu will appear if the sensor is connected allowing you to set a warning against a minimum battery voltage.
Fixes
- The laps was not stored if you changed directly from running mode to setup mode.
- If you tried to turn the Laptimer off from Undo mode, it was stuck.
- In PC mode with the Data Analyser selected, something funny was written in the display if the USB cable was connected. Now the Laptimer will now longer detect the USB cable if it is running with the Data Analyser. It is however still detected from firstlap mode and pit mode.
- After pit mode the Laptimer will always change to the last lap in the memory. It is no longer possible to choose the start lap yourself. We have done this because some users feel that they have lost something when changing from pit mode to run mode.
- The USB speed is once more improved. Now a complete transfer from a 6002 is down at 5.2 seconds and a 7002 is a little more than 18 seconds!
- The RPM shift light function is made much faster. When the RPM is close to the shift point area, the 5 LEDs are updated 10 times per second instead of 2 times. This is a wish from MC drivers.
- The communication is changed when using the Data Analyser. It is now much more robust and safe. It will feel like a very big improvement.
- It is now possible to cancel a Flash update if you by accident press the FUNC button in PC SETUP in service mode.
- The stroke setup is now moved from setup to service mode. Some users did change this by accident and got the wrong readout of RPM values. Typical this is only set once and it really belongs in service mode.
- Connection og lysdiode styrke er flyttet fra setup til service mode. Samtidig er high delay helt fjernet da folk ikke kunne finde ud af at bruge den.
- Connection and LED intensity are moved from setup to service mode. At the same time high delay is removed from the Laptimer.
- The Laptimer now turns off (timeout) even after a transfer to the Data Analyser
- The logging of the 5 best laps is changed. This is only relevant if you want to see graphs on the Data Analyser.
All other changes can be read in the revision history here.
The program for 6002 can be downloaded here and for 7002 here.
